Mes y medio antes de que se llevara a cabo la exposición del cecut se me acercó una muchacha que trabajaba en el periódico de la escuela llamado "The Sun", y me dijo que estaba interesada en hacer un artículo sobre mí. Y sí, me entrevistaron, me tomaron fotos, etc. Pero no fue hasta el mero día de la exposición cuando publicaron el artículo, y pues fue dificil que gente de la escuela asistiera al evento al enterarse el mero día. La publicación no atrajo a nadie.
Aun así, me agradó el detalle, y a penas el día de hoy publican el artículo en su páguina oficial de internet. Aquí se los muestro, pero debo decirles que está en inglés, asi que si no saben hablar inglés vayan por un diccionario:

"Jose Angel Paredes washes dishes in the cafeteria, but that's just for now. Someday he will be cleaning up in Hollywood.
Paredes, like thousands of Southwestern College students is paying his dues and working toward his dream. His is to be the Mexican-American Steven Spielberg. A 21-year-old communication major and third year student at SWC, Paredes carries a full load in addition to making his own films. He is currently editing his fourth and has many more in mind. Like many creatives, Paredes admitted that in elementary school he drew comic books in class. The comic books he would doodle are similar to movie storyboards, he said. Even as a child he loved watching movies.
Paredes said he chose communication as a major because it is difficult to get into film school and the movie industry. But that is exactly what he plans to do, he said.
His eyes sparkled and he scratched his rugged beard as he spoke about his first film, which he made at La Preparatoria Lazaro Cardenas, his Tijuana high school. It was a horror flick called 'Agonia' (Agony).
His high school lacked the technology to produce the movie, so Paredes had to borrow equipment. His first film was a hit at his school and he was inspired to make a second film, 'Un Dicho Aprobado' (A Proven Quote), a true story about a love triangle.
The 33-minute film took a year and a half to finish, Paredes said, and was more complicated. He still did not have decent equipment or filmmaking software.
Even before he started to write his third film, Paredes worked hard to save money to buy a computer and the program Adobe Premier for the editing process.
Paredes' dedication is no surprise to his fellow employees at the campus cafeteria.
'He's a hard worker and is always on time at seven in the morning to wash the dishes,' said Lupe Torres, a co-worker.
After six months, he finished his third film the 15-minute 'Abuso al Arte' (Abusing Art). Paredes said it is a narration about a character that dislikes discriminant art intellectuals intolerant of other views. The film took six months to piece together.
'Audio and editing takes the most time because it has to sound clear,' Paredes explained.
He said he enjoys editing, producing and making films because he likes to be behind the camera and be able to put his perspectives on film.
'Cuarto' (Fourth) is his fourth film. He chose the name because in Spanish it can mean either fourth or room. Paredes said the movie is about an insecure man who is infatuated with a woman. The movie shows the man courting the woman and at the end his intentions are revealed.
'I knew that he had an artist running through his blood,' said Perla Rojas, a close friend of Paredes.
Rojas said she had an insight into Paredes' film making world when she worked with him on his final film. His four pieces will show March 28 at 'El Cecut' theater in Tijuana. El Cecut is a theater and museum within a huge concrete sphere that is a landmark piece of architecture in Tijuana. His screening is called 'Coming Out into the Light.'"
Hay algunas cosas que quiero aclarar acerca de éste artículo. En primer lugar, la muchacha me preguntó cual era mi director favorito, le dije que era Spielberg, y fue por eso, supongo, que me llamó el "Latino Spielberg". No crean que yo mismo me puse ese apodo. En segundo lugar, Aquí en este último párrafo dice que el evento del cecut se llamaba "Coming Out into the Light", lo cual quiere decir "Saliendo a la Luz". Yo quería titularlo así, pero con tanto rodeos se me olvidó y no le puse ningún nombre. Y en tercero, no entiendo por qué puso a Perla Rojas como mi close personal friend, lo cual quiere decir mi amiga cercana, cuando en realidad es mi novia. Quien sabe, a lo mejor así se le nombran en el periódico.
